INITIATIVES OF RUPANTARAN

In order to move towards its vision, Rupantaran has taken certain initiatives where it tries to balance the share of resources between various sections of society.

Rural Initiative

India is one of the fastest developing countries. But, the benefits of development are not spread equally throughout the country especially in rural areas. Rupantaran takes “people centric approach” to promote the need for putting the economically marginalised and discriminated people firmly at the centre of the development process.

Presently, Rupantaran works in a remote village of West Bengal where Rupantaran aims to set up an Information Hub where all individuals will be empowered with the valuable information and are motivated to participate and act collectively to reclaim the voice, dignity, and rights.

It also aims to develop the youths of the rural area as change makers, by engaging them actively in the process of creation and re-creation of the democratic society. Rupantaran tries to form a well informed, powerful and sensible youth group by conducting several workshops with them to transform them into emerging leaders and change makers for the area. The youth group will work actively with their families and communities for engaging them actively in the development process of the area, by mobilising positive public opinion and creating community spaces so that even the last person standing in the queue gets the fruit of development.

Educational Support Initiative

There are many meritorious children in the society who wants to continue their education but because of the poor economic condition, they tend to drop out of school. For these meritorious and economically underprivileged children, Rupantaran extends a hand of support to continue their education. This initiative is closely associated with the resource mobilization programme of Rupantaran as the educational resource collected is distributed to children of economically under privileged section.

Rupantaran has already supported twelve economically under privileged children from Behala Sarada Vidyapith (for Girls) and a slum in Taratalla (Calcutta Port Trust Colony).
